T-2 days until closing on Granny’s and I shared in my instagram stories my crazy nightmares. I had 2 nightmares about our final walkthrough, 1. We started demo-ing the house and the ceiling fell through. 2. At the final walkthrough the floor crumbled beneath our feet from termite damage. Although Granny’s house is a huge undertaking, I know that none of these crazy things will actually come true. I’m sure it’s just my fears creeping in!
Today I’m sharing with you a sneak peek into our timeline and design for the Master Suite. We are living in Granny’s while we renovate (highly un-recommended) and we want to start with our Master Suite so we can create an oasis for us while we are living in a construction zone. Because we have our apartment until the 1st of November, we get 3 weeks to get the house in a somewhat good shape before we actually move in. To make the best of it, we are starting with the messiest projects including: living room ceiling replacement, kitchen and master bath demo, and sanding the entire house’s ceiling.
My vision for this house is to keep the major projects super muted and simple so they can go with any family’s style. For the Master Bath, I chose a white tile, white paint, and a simple grey vanity with brushed nickel hardware that will go with any design style. Light fixtures are equivalent to jewelry when it comes to a house. They can make the biggest difference! My plan for the entire house includes transitional colors paired with statement light fixtures.
