What a few weeks it has been! February has given me a new start and fresh opportunities. I started a new role with lululemon, over-hauled all of my makeup, and completely re-designed my website.
The only inevitable is change and I am well aware, but being aware doesn’t make it easy. I am a home-body and a creature of habit by nature. I have morning routines, day routines, and evening routines; weekly routines even. Sundays and Mondays I work on all my blog content, Tuesdays I get off early and sometimes get a manicure. It’s not really about the things I don’t get to when shit hits the fan, it’s more about my inner peace and the peace I find in routine.
If that’s not empowerment I don’t know what is. It’s often said ‘When you know better you do better.’ When you know that inner peace is yours for the choosing, it makes it easier to obtain. I realized I was stealing my own inner peace by focusing on things out of my control. Traffic, other people’s emotions, the amount of engagement on my blog. All things out of my control for the most part, yet still I laid my inner peace down to pick up the weight of these uncontrollables.
This post hit me like a ton of bricks. I challenged myself for the past week to really hone in on what I can control, especially the things that bring me peace and joy. I put focus on my own presence and mentally said the mantra ‘be where your feet are.’ I’d look down at my feet and ask what is it that I need to let go of to be here? Then I’d let it go. Magical.
If you’re struggling with inner peace or uncontrollable situations in your life I challenge you to two things:
- Find the things that you can control that inspire you and shift your gaze upon those.
- Own your presence. When you find yourself unclear or cloudy look down at your feet. Ask yourself ‘what do I need to let go of to be here’ and be where your feet are.
