Hi Y’all!
Cue Bill Wither’s Lovely Day: I asked you guys if you would be interested in a review of the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides and it was a unanimous yes! I have been using this powder for a little over a year now so I can speak to some long term effects that I’ve experienced.
What are Collagen Peptides?
This particular powder is water soluble in hot or cold liquid and is completely unflavored! It has 20g of Collagen per serving (which is 2 scoops) and only one ingredient.
Where are Collagen Peptides sourced?
The Collagen Peptides in this powder are sources from grass-fed Brazilian bovine.
What are the benefits of Collagen Peptides?
Collagen Peptides have higher levels of the amino acids: Arginine, Glycine, Proline, & Hydroxyproline. These amino acids strengthen the existing collagen in our bodies to improve joints & ligaments, gut health, and hair, skin, & nails.
Where can I get Collagen Peptides?

My morning Collagen coffee recipe:
My Morning Collagen Coffee
This is my favorite part of my morning routine!
Ingredients
- 12 oz black coffee of your choice
- 1 tsp coconut oil virgin, cold-pressed
- 1 scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
- 1 dash cinnamon
Instructions
-
First put on Bill Wither's Lovely Day, or whatever song makes you want to dance around while your coffee is brewing.
-
Put 1 scoop of collagen peptides in your mug.
-
Measure out 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and put it in your mug as well, do not try to mix together the powder and the coconut oil.
-
Sprinkle in a dash of cinnamon, you can also do this at the end, but I prefer mine to be mixed in with my coffee.
-
Prepare your coffee how you like it then pour it in the mug with all of the ingredients. Give it a stir ensuring to get all of the powder dissolved into the coffee.
-
Let Collagen dissolve for at least 1 minute also allowing your coffee to cool a bit, then enjoy!
My experience:
The biggest difference I’ve experienced is actually with my skin. I have very sensitive skin and I also have severe rosacea. I actually started using this because an esthetician told me that I needed to use super hydrating products and exfoliate my skin regularly to reduce my facial redness. I read that Collagen Peptides are a way to hydrate your skin from the inside out, so I ran to Whole Foods to pick this baby up. After about a month I started noticing the redness on my face wasn’t as severe and you couldn’t see it through my makeup, which you definitely could before I started using collagen peptides. After about 3 months, I actually switched to Bare Minerals mineral foundation, which I have never been able to wear because I’ve always had severe redness and problem skin. I was able to only wear a super light layer just to cover up the slight redness from my rosacea which was incredible! I have naturally dry skin along with rosacea so I believe the collagen peptides help boost the collagen that my body naturally creates to hydrate my skin and calm my rosacea.
Another benefit I’ve noticed from taking Collagen Peptides for a year is my hair and nails have grown like nobody’s business. I’ve never had issues with hair growth- my hair grows like a weed- but now I have given up getting blonde highlights because I would probably have to go once a month instead of every 6 weeks because my hair has started growing so much faster. I’ve also never had issues with nail growth, but instead of having to trim my nails short every other week I have to trim my nails once a week. They also grow in stronger and I have less hang nails than I’ve ever had.
The last benefit I’ve experienced is with my digestion. In the past 2 years I’ve had issues with digestion and gut health- I won’t go into major TMI details, but I have noticed an improvement in my digestion from using this. I began taking a daily probiotic, per my doctors recommendation, along with using Collagen Peptides and I haven’t had the severe symptoms and discomfort that I was experiencing prior to using them. I also did some research and found that drinking Collagen Peptides with healthy oils/fats (coconut oil, ghee, avocado oil, MCT oil) aids in coating your stomach and digestive tract for food and helps absorption of the proteins in your body. I usually use coconut oil or MCT oil, whatever we have in the pantry.
One important note: The serving size for the powder is 2 scoops. I started out using 2 scoops because I wanted to see the full effects with the recommended servings and then after about 3 months in, I switched to only using 1 scoop. I didn’t see much of a difference in results and I still only use 1 scoop now. It lasts longer and I still experience the same results. You may find different results because every body is unique!
I hope that you found something helpful in my experience and if you have any questions please comment below! What health products are you loving right now?
