Here is what our house hunting journey looked like:
5+ months of spending 1-2 hours looking at the market. 20 weeks of touring 4+ houses a week. 3 houses under contract that fell short. Endless pep-talks to myself to keep going.
Finally, August 31st, things took a turn for the better. I had no hope submitting the offer and even less hope completing the inspection, but things just fell into place. They continue to fall into place.
We had really specific parameters for the house we wanted: worst house in the best neighborhood with a lot of potential, at least 3 bed, 2 baths, and good bones. OH and did I mentioned we’re looking at the top of the market. We took our time and we didn’t settle, as much as we wanted to. We almost gave up quite a few times.
This project is lovingly named “Granny’s House” to pay homage to it’s original owner who is 101 and endearingly called Granny by everyone who knows her. She was the second owner of this home and lived there for 60+ years. So when I feel like throwing in the towel on this project I will think back to Granny’s resilience and it will hopefully give me the mental strength to continue.
If you want to see more of the project follow along on my instagram stories or the hashtag #grannyshouse. Monday marked 2 weeks until our Closing Date and I can’t wait to get my hands on this house.
