A Walk Down Memory Lane
Let’s take a walk through this project shall we? First, I just want to express so many things…. The gratitude I have for all of you who have been following along. It wasn’t always easy to share the setbacks, frustration, and the disappointments. We made it through! There were days when Alton & I looked at each other and said “WE ARE NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN!” or “What have we gotten ourselves into?” Truthfully, we felt we were in over our heads a lot and it was so scary. Not to mention our living out of boxes, with a barely-operable washing machine, and a microwave for a kitchen. Don’t even get me started about washing dishes in my bathroom sink. File this under…. Things I will never forget & built character.
I feel great sadness knowing that I’ll have to say goodbye to this place VERY soon. Although I am sad, I think the biggest emotion I feel is the hope and excitement for what’s to come. Is it just me or is it easier to see as you get older?
When I look through these photos I think…. It really wasn’t that bad was it? Have you ever seen the movie Money Pit? We rented it while we were in the midst of the hardest part of the renovation & it was so surreal. When we were converting the back Florida Room into heated square footage we often quoted the movie to each other “We don’t have a house, we have Swiss Cheese with a door!” It truly was Swiss Cheese with a door though y’all.
So what’s next for us you ask? Right now we just want to take a break to recoup & strategize. The current plan is to find a rental for a year, but we have been looking at some more single family flips so we aren’t closed off to any opportunities that come our way. We are planning to buy our first multifamily property by the end of the year that I’m sure will require some renovations. After all, I have to create hot fire renovation content for you all!
